Lion of Ekkati to strike in Reggae 6 closer
LOAD up on Sunday's Reggae 6 opener, a blink sprint at four furlongs straight for five-year-olds, non-winners of three races - technically six-year-olds in another two weeks - horses who will be thrown to the wolves of open claiming company come January 1.
Go with speed, no matter the draw. It's presumed soundness that counts among the lower ranks. Quit playing vet and instead spread bets to include BLINKIN LIGHT, SUPERIO, COALITION, OKOYE WARRIOR, TUTS and NEWLAND LINKS.
Similarly, the second event, another blink sprint, this time two-year-olds, should also be approached with caution, requiring at least four selections at four furlongs straight.
Debutant MOHANLAL and stablemate MO PAI, who were caught trying to make all first time out, should be carried along with WAH A GWAAN and UNCLE NALLY.
The third could also be tricky though fielding only six runners at five furlongs round, four-year-olds, who are yet to win two races. LUCKY PAPA, NOBLE MONARCH and CAPTAIN FANTASTIC should cover the event.
JUSTIN BIGTIME is a worthwhile banker in the fourth at six furlongs, dropping to $700,000 claiming after consecutive third-place finishes among $1m company.
Go five deep in the fifth event - GALLOPIN DE VELOZ, HAIL THE QUEEN, J SPIETH, INDESTRUCTIBLE and MS CHERRY - before taking a chance with LION OF EKKATI as a banker in the closer.
